About me

Francisco Valiente, Bharatanatyam Madrid

I am Francisco Valiente, a Bharatanatyam performer, teacher, and choreographer from Madrid, formally trained and graduated from the prestigious Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai, India, and recipient of the ICCR scholarship. Deeply rooted in the Kalakshetra tradition, I specialize in both performance and teaching, sharing the richness of Bharatanatyam through stage work and structured training.

My journey with Bharatanatyam began in Madrid in 2018, and soon after, I was awarded the ICCR scholarship to study at Kalakshetra. During my years in Chennai, I performed at renowned venues such as the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Vivekananda Cultural Center, Kaldan Samudhra Palace, and Mahabalipuram.

Here in Madrid, I actively collaborate with the Embassy of India in Spain for cultural programmes and events, representing and promoting Indian classical dance. I have participated in notable occasions such as the International Day of Yoga, India’s Independence Day celebrations, and various cultural showcases organized by the Embassy, bringing the art of Bharatanatyam to diverse audiences in Spain.

Today, I offer regular Bharatanatyam classes in Madrid for students of all levels, as well as online Bharatanatyam classes for learners worldwide. My teaching focuses on preserving the authenticity of the classical form while encouraging creativity within tradition—exploring talam, developing original choreographies, and working with music in innovative ways.
